ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Monday visited the Army Census Support Centre (CSC) at the headquarters of the Army Ai
r Defence Command in Rawalpindi and said that the
census w
ould be completed at all costs, the military’s media wing said.
During the visit, General Bajwa was briefed in detail about the support being extended to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) and the progress of the
census thus far, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
Gen Bajwa lauded the efforts of the CSC in the
census and paid tribute to the soldiers and enumerators w
ho laid down their lives wh
ile performing their national duty.
He said that smooth conduct of the
census was a collective success of the army and the government.
Earlier, upon his arrival, the army chief was received by the CSC chairman and commander of the Pakistan Army Ai
r Defence Command, Lt Gen Zahid Latif Mirza.
Last week, six people, including four army soldiers and an off-duty Pakistan Air Force airman, lost their lives in a suicide attack targeting a
census team in Lahore. The attack, which was claimed by the proscribed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, injured at least 19 others, according to the provincial government.
